  • Hawaii Volcano

    The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which was established in 1916, is a major tourist draw to the islands and encompasses 2 active volcanoes.

    Featured in the BBC's Volcano Live TV Series, Kilauea is one of the world's most active volcanoes and Mauna Loa is the world's largest volcano. The park offers a dramatic volcanic landscape for visitors to explore and catch a glimpse of the rare flora & fauna.


    The main entrance to the park is off the Hawaii Belt Road and the park covers an area of 323,431 acres, of which half is designated as the Hawaii Volcanoes Wilderness that gives the visitor unusual camping and hiking opportunities.

    The climate and landscape changes dramatically through the park from coastal regions, to lush tropical rain forests and to the arid and barren Ka'u Desert.
